 whats going on good peoples....i hope that everyone is doing well. Peace to my people down south that are dealing with Hurricane season. Prayers go out that you make it through safely

 Today, i went to TVA, something i havent done in a looooooong time (my bad Dessa ) and read some of the posted poetry. TVA has got some damn good writers, most of them are on my Bravejournal friends list. its not that i dont love TVA...i just havent really been in the mood to read any poetry...but im coming back around. now, if i could only do something to kick the creative juices to flow so that i can write!! i havent written in about two month and for me thats a very looooooong time. as Blu say; "you pump poems out once a week"....and for a while she was right. it seemed as if i were writing something everyday. maybe trying to get ready for Southern Fried drained me more than i realized. maybe its the issues going on in my life. maybe im just burned from writing. all i know is that it just needs to go the hell away

anyone got any helpful hints for a brother?

OH YEA.....I FORGOT HOW MUCH DIAL UP SUCKS

Copasetic-So, I know I dont know you well, but I think what you are going through is kind of normal. I get these dry spells, and it especially sucks when I feel like I was doing pretty good writing. I used to write one a week too. I think when you get into that pattern, and you think others expect it or worse YOU YOURSELF expect you to do it. Then you are writing more from obligation than for expression or release. And really, for me that is often when my best stuff comes. One other thing that helps me is that the Neo Souldiers (our group of poets) have writing labs together every other Sunday. One of the things we do as I am sure many other folks do is one of our ring leaders, B, picks random topics (he knows us so he puts some thought in it) and then decides 5-7 random letters, then as a group we come up with words that start with those letters. We do this for everyone and then we have 20 mintues to try to write something with those words relating to that topic given to us. One of my favorite pieces came from one of those sessions. And you would be surprised, or I often am how God and the cosmos works, somehow it always seems like a I get a topic that touches something I am going through, so it is still coming from me instead of just writing, (cause I need to write about something I feel strongly about otherwise, they are not really good...even stuff like my silly music pieces are from my love of music). There are other exercises too, the thing is it just gets you writing, thinking...back in the saddle so to speak. And it really, it gives me a space that is quiet, and for writing...a life excape where writing is the only thing I have to do in that moment.

For getting it back, I think that sometimes when you have this pressure like what is wrong with me that I am not writing, again, it is more like something you HAVE to do than what you WANT to do. The Southern Fried really wasnt that long ago and it is a big deal--so :) maybe cut yourself some slac

Hey don't feel down. Everyone goes through a dry spell every once and a while. Listen to some music, go out and hang with some buddies and start a conversation on current events (that usually sparks something for me), or shit...just come to the Sugar Water Festival (u betta be going). :P

Write one haiku/senryu a day. Not only does it help get the creative juices flowing, but they can be a means to hold an idea for a start to a new poem.
